| Island 112 ADD INFO
This island is a nice option. Road noise from Routes 11/15 is limited and the site is nicely secluded. The landing is a bit muddy and you might sink in up to your ankles. But this muddy strip is only a few feet wide and can be easily avoided with a modest leap. The island is easy to spot as you proceed down stream. As you approach the lower end of White's Island on river right (White's will be on your left), you will see a series of very subtle riffles (at 7.2' Sunbury) and some grass beds at the upstream end of Island 112a. If you hug the left side of the grass beds (grass beds on your right), you'll pick up a nice current which will take you right along the east side of the island and to the campsite. As you approach it may look like you're headed directly into the middle of one large island. In fact, there is a narrow channel separating 112a (to your right) from another island to the left. As you pass through this narrow channel, you'll come to a sort of gravelly "sluice." At the narrowest point in this "sluice" you should see the path to the campsite on your right. The trail marker will be visible about 50 yards in from shore, about 8 feet up in a tree. This narrow channel is passable in a canoe at relatively low water levels.
